On January 1, 2014, L.A. Care Health Plan welcomed more than 164,000 former Healthy Way LA (HWLA) beneficiaries as new L.A. Care Medi-Cal members. They now have access to an expanded range of benefits and rights as Medi-Cal members.
These new Medi-Cal members are adults ages 19 to 64 with no dependent children and incomes below 138% of the federal poverty level. Many former HWLA members are new to health coverage. They may have questions for you — their clinics, doctors and front office staff — about how to access services and prescriptions.
