A 24/7 Option for Urgent Care

Get care when you need it in the comfort of your own home with a new telehealth benefit.

Telehealth with Teladoc

Telehealth is L.A. Care's new benefit that offers access to doctors by phone or video 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Teladoc® is the telehealth company that L.A. Care is working with to offer this care option when your primary care doctor is not available.

What Is Teladoc®?

L.A. Care and Teladoc logos

Teladoc is a network of board-certified doctors who can help with a wide variety of health concerns. When you can’t reach your primary care doctor, Teladoc is one way you can get care for some health issues that are not life-threatening, like a sprained ankle or sore throat.

Teladoc doctors can diagnose and treat minor illnesses, allergies and skin conditions — all by phone or video chat. They can prescribe medication if necessary, which you can pick up at your local pharmacy.

You can choose between having a video consult or a phone consult. Video consults are available 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week. Phone consults are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You can ask for a consult as soon as possible, or you can schedule an appointment. The wait time for a consult is usually less than one hour before you get a call back.

What Is the Cost to Use Teladoc?

Teladoc is free for L.A. Care Medi-Cal, Cal MediConnect, L.A. Care Covered and PASC-SEIU Plan members. Pre-approval is not needed.

Please note that Medi-Cal Members who have additional Medicare coverage may not be eligible, such as Full Dual CCI – Partial Dual Part B members. Members should check with their Medicare plan if they have access to telehealth benefits.

Using Teladoc Is Easy!

Always call your regular doctor first. Teladoc should be used only when your doctor is not available. You can also call the L.A. Care Nurse Advice Line at 1.800.249.3619 if you are not sure you need this type of urgent care, emergency services or self-care at home.

You'll have to set up an account with Teladoc the first time you use it. All you need is your L.A. Care Member ID number. You can set up your account and request a consult using one of three options:
