More Resources for Patients: Mail Order Pharmacy
L.A. Care has mail-order pharmacy options for L.A. Care members. To help ensure uninterrupted access to medications, we recommend exploring these options with your patients.
- Mail-Order Pharmacy Services: Consider discussing mail-order pharmacy options, which can provide convenient, direct-to-home delivery of prescription medications.
- Authorized Prescription Pickup: Patients can designate trusted individuals to pick up prescriptions on their behalf. We encourage patients to contact their local pharmacy to understand specific policies and requirements. Below is a list of who is typically authorized to pick up prescriptions:
- The patient
- Spouse or domestic partner
- Parent (for minor patients)
- Adult child (when the patient is unable to pick up medications themselves)
- Individuals with written authorization from the patient
- Legal guardian or conservator

Know Your Rights Toolkit + Red Cards
The Immigrant Legal Resource Center has developed a range of materials to help educate members of the community, including a Know Your Rights Toolkit and Red Cards in multiple languages. The Red Card is a small paper statement that helps people assert their rights.

L.A. Care's Commitment to Members
In December 2024, L.A. Care’s Board of Governors unanimously approved a resolution to support healthcare for all, regardless of immigration status. The Board resolution states that L.A. Care will strongly advocate for continued access to health coverage and benefits for all eligible children and adults, regardless of immigration status. L.A. Care will continue to provide access to health care to all eligible members in accordance with the requirements of our contract with the Department of Health Care Services.
This May, L.A. Care signed a statement, along with organizations spanning philanthropy, health care, business, labor, education and community organizers, highlighting a shared commitment to improving the lives of all Californians and sustaining a strong economy.
The statement outlines that protecting essential services for all Californians—regardless of immigration status—is not only the right thing to do, it is also a smart economic strategy that keeps our communities healthy.
L.A. Care stands with members during this challenging time. Everyone deserves access to high quality, affordable health care, regardless of immigration status. L.A. Care is committed to providing access to quality health care to all eligible members.
