The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LAC DPH) issued a health advisory on June 1, 2020. This advisory discusses addressing the delays in tuberculosis (TB) disease diagnosis in patients with suspected, confirmed, or resolved COVID19.
It is essential that TB clinical care and control are continued during the COVID-19 pandemic, including: evaluation and treatment of suspected or confirmed active TB disease; evaluation after significant exposure to infectious TB disease; and treatment of latent TB infection (LTBI) for high risk individuals.
Because guidance for the prevention and management of COVID-19 may change, providers and staff are encouraged to visit the Los Angeles Health Alert Network (LAHAN) website frequently. You can also subscribe to the LAHAN to receive alerts, advisories, and updates from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
