LOS ANGELES – L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest publicly operated health plan in the country, is proud to announce the eight recipients of an $800,000 oral health initiative. The initiative has a dual purpose — to fund projects where few dental services are currently available, and to provide dental care to people with developmental disabilities. Each grantee will receive $100,000.
One of the latest grant recipients, Harbor Community Clinic in San Pedro, will complete construction on a new dental site that will provide at least 2,500 pediatric dental visits per year. Another recipient, JWCH Institute in Lynwood, will be completing a primary care facility that will provide at least 2,300 adult dental visits and at least 300 pediatric visits per year.
It’s no secret that oral health impacts overall health, and good oral health can actually reduce the risk of life-threatening disease. L.A. Care is committed to increasing access to dental care to ensure our members maintain overall good health.
