L.A. Care Health Plan Stands with Our Members and their Communities

A statement from L.A. Care Health Plan's CEO, Martha Santana-Chin:

The past several days have seen federal ICE agents activated on the ground throughout Los Angeles County, resulting in a series of peaceful protests in solidarity with the individuals they are arresting. Unfortunately, we have also seen a few agitators escalate these protests, bringing harm and damage to our community.

L.A. Care Health Plan stands with our members and their communities, along with those who wish to peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights. However, violence and aggression are never the right path to positive and enduring change.

Immigrants are deeply interwoven in the fabric of California’s communities.  More than half of California, and 62% of L.A. County, is either foreign-born or has at least one immigrant parent.

We want to reassure our community that California law allows all eligible individuals to access health care services regardless of immigration status. For members with questions about their health care rights or how to access services, we are here to help. Our staff is trained and ready to answer questions in multiple languages.

Additionally, our Community Resource Centers located throughout the county remain open and accessible to anyone in the community who may need them.

We encourage all Angelenos to stay safe, be kind, treat each other with respect and dignity, and prioritize your health and wellbeing during this time.

LA is strong. We’ll get through this - together.
