On Saturday, September 27th, The Wellness Center at the Historic General Hospital in Boyle Heights will host an open house. The free event is open to the public and aims to showcase its wide range of resources available to the local community. Currently, the Center houses 18 nonprofit organizations with a focus on health and well-being, including L.A. Care’s Boyle Heights Family Resource Center.
All L.A. Care Family Resource Centers offer free:
- Health Education Classes
- Exercise Classes
- Health Care Reform Information
The mission of The Wellness Center is to inspire and empower residents and patients to take control of their own health and well-being by providing culturally sensitive wellness and prevention services and resources.
The open house is from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be healthy food, art, live music, prizes and giveaways. Additionally, the L.A. Care Family Resource Center will offer a salsa fitness class, food portion control activity and goodie bags.
