L.A. Care Taking Extra Steps to Ensure Angelenos Have Health Coverage as End of Open Enrollment Nears

The New Year is the perfect time for people to set new health goals – many resolve to eat better and exercise more. The CDC says by making healthy choices, you can reduce your chances of getting a chronic disease and you can improve your quality of life. One of the healthiest choices anyone can make is getting health coverage, which provides preventive care to ensure health and wellness. With the open enrollment period on the Covered California exchange closing at the end of the month, L.A. Care Health Plan wants to give Angelenos every opportunity to choose the health coverage that is best for them. That’s why it is offering extended hours at some of its Community Resource Centers, which are jointly operated with Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan.

In January, four centers will have extended hours during the week and will be open most Saturdays. People are advised to check each center’s calendar to confirm the schedules.

Two of the centers will offer enrollment support during the extended hours. They are:

The other two center will have people on hand to help answer questions about enrollment and to help set up appointments for enrollment support.* They are:

Other center services will not be offered during the extended hours.

Of course, enrollment help is offered throughout the year at all of the Community Resource Centers for those on Medi-Cal, or for those who may experience a life event requiring a different coverage option. The Community Resource Centers encourage people to make an appointment for enrollment help at 877-287-6290, but walk-ins are also welcome. For information about this and other services offered at the centers during regular hours visit communityresourcecenterla.org.
