L.A. Care Celebrates Inclusion at Compton PRIDE Festival

L.A. Care CEO John Baackes speaking onstage at Compton PRIDE

L.A. Care Health Plan, the nation's largest publicly-operated health plan, is a proud sponsor of the First Annual Compton PRIDE Festival, hosted by Star View Children & Family Services. In fact, this is the first pride event ever held in South Los Angeles, an area with limited resources for the LGBTQ community.

L.A. Care CEO John Baackes will speak during the opening ceremony of the event, which is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City, an incident that sparked political activism within the LGBTQ community. Garrison Rios, L.A. Care's Executive Director for Cal MediConnect will speak during the closing ceremony.

The family-friendly event will include appearances by television personalities, singers, and political dignitaries. Compton PRIDE is being held tomorrow, Saturday, July 6, from noon to 8 pm, on the campus of Compton College, 1111 East Artesia Boulevard, Compton.

Event organizers are expecting thousands of attendees.
