The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has recognized Watts Health Clinic for achieving Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) status. Founded in 1967, Watts Health Clinic offers clinical, preventive, behavioral and restorative services to an underprivileged and underserved population.

The clinic distinguished itself with programs that improve service quality and encourage greater involvement of patients in their own care. In preparing to apply for PCMH status, clinic leaders focused on maximizing efficiencies in human resources, patient flow, information technology, and policies and procedures.

“PCMH is one of the few distinctions available solely to primary care practices,” notes CEO William D. Hobson, Jr., M.S. “ This recognition validates our patient-centered approach.” Before applying for PCMH status, the health center instituted electronic health care record keeping, which also enhanced patient care and workflow, states Hobson.
