Did you know that more than 1.7 million L.A. County residents face hunger or food insecurity each day?

When it comes to a choice between affording food versus prescription medication, patients may choose to skip their medication dosage to put food on the table.  One in three Americans with a chronic disease such as diabetes, arthritis or high blood pressure has difficulty paying for food, medications or both, according to a new study from the American Journal of Medicine. Their researchers found that people who had trouble affording food were four times more likely to skip some of their medications due to cost than those who got plenty to eat.

We can help eliminate the choice from being an issue by providing healthy food resources so L.A. Care patients may not have to make the choice between food and medicine, all while adhering to your prescribed medical advice.
