You are your patients’ most trusted source of vaccine information and advice.
With flu season approaching, L.A. Care is asking providers to schedule flu shot appointments for all patients six months of age and older.
To support you in this effort, here are some quick tips and messages for your practice:
- Remind your patients by phone, text, mail, and/or email to get the flu shot.
- Utilize scheduled visits as an opportunity to vaccinate.
- Let patients know that the flu shot is free for L.A. Care members.
- Stress that the vaccine is needed every year.
- Talk about protecting loved ones and our most vulnerable groups. Vaccination is especially important if your patient is around children and seniors.
- The flu season is also an opportunity to talk to your patients age 65 and older about the pneumococcal vaccine.
L.A. Care will also promote the importance of annual flu vaccination to our members through reminder phone calls and postcards. This may result in more members contacting you about the flu shot.
