Alert: Free Medical-Grade Personal Protective Equipment Available

July 2020 Special Edition

As we continue to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, we appreciate all your efforts to keep your offices and clinics open during this difficult time and help our communities stay safe and well.

The State of California's Office of Emergency Management is partnering with The California Medical Association (CMA) and its component medical societies to provide free medical-grade personal protective equipment (PPE) to qualifying small and medium-sized medical practices across the state.

The deadline for providers to reserve PPE is July 21, 2020. Physician practices with 50 or fewer providers can receive up to a two-month supply of PPE—which includes N95 respirators, 3-ply surgical masks, disposable gloves, face shields, and isolation gowns—whether or not they are members of CMA.

Reservations will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. The two-month supply duration is an estimate based on average usage; actual supply duration will vary based on individual practice use.

Providers must reserve their PPE by July 21st before attending the drive-through pick-up events that will be hosted on various dates by county between July 27th and August 7th. There will not be PPE available at the events for those who do not register ahead of time.

In Los Angeles County, the first event will be held at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena on July 27.
