L.A. Care Recognized by Prestigious Public Relations Organization for its Website Newsroom

L.A. Care Health Plan is proud to announce that it is a 2020 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation. For more than 45 years, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Bronze Anvil Awards have recognized the best of the best in public relations – including the use of social media, video, blogs, digital newsletters and websites. L.A. Care entered the Online Newsroom competition.

L.A. Care’s Communications Department built, from scratch, a website newsroom to capture the announcements and media attention about the wide variety of initiatives the health plan undertakes to improve the health of its members in Los Angeles County. The newsroom was designed to house, by category, news media placements, press releases, and the viewpoints of our CEO and other leaders.

Prior to the launch of the newsroom last year, all news media placements, press releases and viewpoints were placed on a website landing page with no separation by category. Separating the items by category was much more visually appealing, and improved the visitor experience. Visitors can find exactly was they are looking for and are now treated to a featured video. The newsroom also gave the health plan a designated home for information that journalists often seek – a fact sheet, annual reports, and details information about the health plan leadership and board of governors.

In the first five months, the newsroom saw a more than 1450% increase in page views, and visitor spent 139% more time reading news items.

PRSA received 322 entries in 33 categories. The winner in the Online Newsroom category was the Metropolitan State University of Denver. L.A. Care was the only entry to receive a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation. No Awards are given when the judges determine the entries do no merit them.
