L.A. Care Launches Improved Provider Network to Bring More Choice, Convenience to Members in the Antelope Valley

Los Angeles — L.A. Care Health Plan, in an effort to offer more provider choices and improve access to care for its Medi-Cal members in the Antelope Valley, has launched the L.A. Care Community Access Network (L.A. Care CAN), which includes more than 70 primary care physicians and specialists and one of the region’s major hospitals, Antelope Valley Hospital. This is in addition to L.A. Care’s existing provider network of over 70 primary care physicians and over 200 specialists.

“In our ongoing efforts to better serve members, we are seeking to expand our provider network,” said L.A. Care Chief Executive Officer John Baackes. “We’re excited to try a new approach – it’s a change we anticipate will ultimately lead to better health care access in the Antelope Valley.”

The L.A. Care CAN is designed to enhance the health care access currently afforded by L.A. Care’s contracted participating physician groups. By increasing the number of contracted local physicians and specialists in the Antelope Valley, L.A. Care hopes to improve its members’ experience and health outcomes.

The network also brings added value to providers who are able to directly contract with the plan, including streamlined patient care communication, expedited authorization of claims and payments, and dedicated training resources.
