L.A. Care Honored at National Health Center Week Celebration

L.A. Care Health Plan is proud to receive the Stakeholders Appreciation Award at the Multicultural Health Fair and Children’s Appreciation Day, which is being hosted by the Comprehensive Community Health Centers (CCHC). Cynthia Carmona, L.A. Care’s Senior Director of Safety Net Initiatives, will be on hand to accept the award. The event caps off National Health Center Week, an annual celebration with a goal of raising awareness about America’s health centers.  This year’s theme is Community Health Centers – The Chemistry for Strong Communities.

CCHC provides health services for many L.A. Care members and other low-income individuals living in portions of the San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Valley. In addition to spreading the word about the health services it provides, CCHC will take the opportunity to engage the youngest members of their community as they prepare to return to school. CCHC will distribute 1,000 backpacks to patients and underserved children from across Glendale Unified School District and Los Angeles Unified School District. There will also be a special presentation of gifts to children from Ukraine.

Other Stakeholders Appreciation awardees include the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County, Valley Presbyterian Hospital, the L.A. and Glendale Unified School Districts, the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia, the General Consulate of Mexico, Health Net, and Blue Shield of California.
