L.A. Care Chief Medical Officer Elected to Serve on the Board of the Los Angeles County Medical Association

L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest publicly operated plan in the country, is proud to announce that its Chief Medical Officer has been elected to serve as Councilor-at-Large on the Board of the Los Angeles County Medical Association (LACMA). Richard Seidman, MD, MPH, will represent physicians on the 30-member board.

Seidman says he is looking forward to the opportunity to serve as an advocate for physicians, including the more than 19,000 physicians in L.A. Care’s network who care for more than 2.4 million L.A. Care members in Los Angeles County. His goal is to advocate for increased support for physicians, medical groups, ancillary providers and hospitals providing care for Medi-Cal beneficiaries in Los Angeles County. Seidman also looks forward to supporting the efforts of LACMA’s Equity Council to advocate for equitable access to care, improved outcomes and reduced disparities in historically under resourced communities of color.

LACMA is an organization of dedicated physicians who advocate for quality healthcare for all patients and serve the professional needs of its members. LACMA works closely with the California Medical Association in advocacy efforts that strive toward a common vision of physicians spending more time treating patients and less time navigating obstacles that undermine the practice of medicine.

The first meeting of the Board since Seidman became a Councilor-at-Large in July was held this week. His term will continue through June of 2022, and he will be eligible for the one-year position again at that time.

Seidman also serves on the Board of the Integrated Healthcare Association, the Board of the KGI Master of Science in Community Medicine, the Executive Committee of the California Quality Collaborative, and on the Advisory Board of Communities Lifting Communities.
