Classes and Continuing Medical Education Seminars

HITEC-LA Provider Orientation, Monday, October 11, 2010, 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Description:
This program is targeted to primary care providers, mid-levels and office managers of small and solo practices including community clinics who are interested in stimulus payments towards the purchase of an EHR system and receiving support services to achieve meaningful use.

Ongoing Opportunities:

  • Treating Tobacco Addiction: This is a 1 hour free online CME activity offered through the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The course will review the extent and impact of tobacco use in Los Angeles County, the benefits for patients becoming free of tobacco, and how physicians can dramatically increase the percent of their patients who quit. Funded by L.A. Care Health Plan Click here to register for the Treating Tobacco Addiction online CME.
  • Health Care Interpreting Training (HCIT): L.A. Care has no upcoming sessions of the 40-hour training scheduled.  Please refer to this page (PDF) for information about other interpreter training resources. 
  • Language Access: This 1-hour course can be taken online or onsite and covers how to access and use L.A. Care's interpreting services.  The course also discusses the importance of using trained interpreters and translators, as well as the role of the interpreter in communicating effectively.  Contact Lenna Monte at lmonte@lacare.org for information.
  • Introduction to Cultural Competence: This course covers cutural biases and stereotypes and communication styles and perceptions. Contact Lenna Monte at lmonte@lacare.org for information.
