Ongoing Opportunities:
- Treating Tobacco Addiction: This is a 1 hour free online CME activity offered through the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The course will review the extent and impact of tobacco use in Los Angeles County, the benefits for patients becoming free of tobacco, and how physicians can dramatically increase the percent of their patients who quit. - Health Care Interpreting Training (HCIT): 40-hour Course for Bilingual Employees. This is a basic medical interpreting course for healthcare employees which covers purpose and role of the interpreter and the impact of culture on communication. - Communicating Effectively with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Patients: This course can be taken as either a 2 hour online or 4 hour onsite training and covers the role of the interpreter in communicating effectively and resources available at L.A. Care. Continuing education units for nurses are provided.
- Cultural Responsiveness Training: This course covers cutural biases and stereotypes and communication styles and perceptions. Continuing education units for nurses are provided.
