L.A. Care at a Glance
L.A. Care Health Plan serves the Medi-Cal population of Los Angeles
County, ensuring the delivery of quality health care services. Our providers and
partners strive for cultural sensitivity and speak the same languages as our

Nation's largest publicly-governed health plan: L.A. Care Health Plan is a non-profit,
community accountable health maintenance organization (HMO). We serve more than
750,000 people who participate in the Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, CaliforniaKids and Healthy Kids
programs, making us one of California's largest health
plans. History: Established in 1994 by the State of
California, L.A. Care has been serving residents of Los Angeles County since
1997. Today, L.A. Care is one of California's largest health plans and the
nation's largest publicly-governed health plan.
Local leadership: Our employees, board and advisory committee
members have a unique commitment to L.A. Care and our health plan members. Most,
if not all, of us live and work in the cities and communities of L.A. County.
Our health plan members are our neighbors. We care about the same things they
