How to Join a RCAC

Newsletters
At the Regional Community Advisory Committee (RCAC) meetings, you can
share your ideas about health care and the services you receive through the
Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and Healthy Kids programs. You can be part of an important
group that meets in your neighborhood to talk about health care in the community
and make suggestions to L.A. Care about ways to improve services. As a RCAC
member, you can help improve health care for your community.

The Regional Community Advisory
Committees (RCACs) meet once a month for about an hour and a half to share ideas
and concerns. The RCACs are made up of L.A. Care members, advocates, doctors and
other health care providers. They give advice to L.A. Care Health Plan about how
to serve L.A. Care members and their communities. The RCACs also plan events
such as health fairs and health care forums to help people in their
neighborhoods learn about services that are available. The RCACs do good work in
their communities.
L.A. Care members who serve on the
RCACs also vote for a Member Representative and a Member Advocate Representative
to be part of L.A. Care Health Plan's Board of Governors. The Board of Governors
makes important decisions about how L.A. Care will operate.
There are 11 RCACs throughout Los
Angeles County. The RCACs meet in different places, including community centers,
libraries and community clinics. To find the RCAC in your area, call L.A. Care's
Community Outreach and Education Department at (888) 522-2732.
