L.A. Care's greatest asset and driving force is our
relationship with the communities we serve. As we shape the system of care that
we provide, the communities we serve shape us in turn. The L.A. Care model was
designed to give all parties involved in the health care process - health plan
members, providers, health plan partners, other health care professionals and
community groups - a voice in the direction of the organization. The
opportunities for community feedback and involvement in L.A. Care are unmatched
in any other health care delivery system.
L.A. Care'sBoard of Governorsis a stakeholder board that includes a health plan
member and a member advocate, physicians, and representatives from county
government, local hospitals, community clinics and health centers. Few, if any,
health plans or companies have this kind of consumer representation on their
board of directors, or have the high level of direct community input that helps
shape L.A. Care.
Three Public Advisory
Committees advise the Board of Governors:
|
|
Technical Advisory Committee |
|
|
Children's Health Consultant Advisory Committee |
|
|
Executive Community Advisory Committee,
representing the participation of member advocates, health plan members
and medical providers.
|
Each
committee has the right to place items on the board's agenda, giving advisory
committees the ability to shape L.A. Care's policy agenda.
