PASADENA – Community Health Alliance of Pasadena (ChapCare) and L.A. Care Health Plan, the nation’s largest publicly operated health plan, are pleased to announce the opening of the Cover LA health insurance enrollment storefront in Pasadena (316 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91101 – located at Paseo Colorado).
Cover LA is a group of community health centers – the local, trusted sources – working together to educate and enroll Los Angeles County residents in programs under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), including Covered California and Medi-Cal expansion.
“This one-stop-shop offers the community the opportunity to ask questions in-person and in the language of their choice, to better understand and participate in new coverage options,” said Howard A. Kahn, L.A. Care Health Plan Chief Executive Officer. “We are proud to partner with Cover LA to provide access to the health care coverage that so many have gone without for far too long.”
In its first three weeks of operation, more than 100 people have enrolled in Medi-Cal and Covered California at the enrollment center. While open enrollment for Covered California ends on March 31, enrollment in Medi-Cal is available throughout the year.
On Friday, February 21, State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez and Margaret B. Martinez, MPH, ChapCare Chief Executive Officer, announced Cover LA’s first store front location in Pasadena after its soft opening on Monday, February 3.
“In a location where tens of thousands of people work and shop daily, our center is a welcoming and professional environment for people to obtain low-cost or free health care coverage,” said Martinez.
The storefront is open Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Sundays, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome.
