L.A. Care Health Plan's Star Partner Program Awards $344,000 to L.A. County Community Clinics

LOS ANGELES — In the past month, L.A. Care Health Plan, the nation’s largest public plan, has awarded $344,000 to 24 clinics in Los Angeles County. Clinics were awarded these funds for qualifying for a technology incentive program. The funds will be used for a variety of technical expansion needs including the purchase of new computer workstations, software licenses, upgrades to clinic websites, dental clinic x-ray cameras and upgrades to telephone systems.

The money was awarded as part of the L.A. Care’s Star Partner Program, which was developed in 2005 by CEO Howard A. Kahn to assist Safety-Net clinics outreach, promote, market and grow membership to the underserved communities in L.A. County. L.A. Care continues to support its Safety Net clinics by providing valuable resources to support clinic growth and outreach.

“It’s critical that clinics are positioned to capitalize on the changes resulting from Obamacare,” says Mr. Kahn. “These incentives will ensure that clinics are able to invest in modern systems that provide high quality, affordable health care and remain competitive while the law rolls out.”

The Star Program exemplifies L.A. Care’s mission – to provide access to quality health care for Los Angeles County's vulnerable and low income communities and residents.
