L.A. Care Health Plan and Chivas USA Partner to Raise Awareness of Health Coverage Options

LOS ANGELES — L.A. Care Health Plan, the nation's largest publicly operated health plan serving more than 1.3 million members, has partnered with Major League Soccer's Chivas USA to raise awareness of the year-round Affordable Care Act (ACA) health coverage options.

L.A. Care will have a presence at all Chivas USA home games, educating fans about enrollment opportunities including year-round Medi-Cal open enrollment and the life events that may at any time trigger special enrollment in L.A. Care Covered™, its Covered California Qualified Health Plan. Health education material and free health screenings will also be offered.

"It's our goal to reach the community in the ways that they will best hear our message – where they are comfortable, by people they trust and in the language that they prefer," said L.A. Care Chief Executive Officer Howard A. Kahn. "We are excited – what better way to do this than at a sporting event, where families and friends unite for fun and conversation, allowing us to be a part of that dialogue."

In addition, the organizations will collaborate with community partners to co-host health andn addition, the organizationsy. fitness festivals across Los Angeles County.

Kahn will toss the coin at the Sunday, April 6, rivalry game versus the Galaxy.
