L.A. Care Health Plan and Cedars-Sinai Enter Agreement to Provide Services to Cal MediConnect Members

LOS ANGELES — L.A. Care Health Plan and Cedars-Sinai today announced they have signed an agreement to provide services to L.A. Care members enrolled in Cal MediConnect (dual eligible or "Medi-Medis"), the program for members who are eligible for both Medicare and Medi-Cal. Through this partnership, L.A. Care's dual eligible members will now have access to a select group of physicians who are part of Cedars-Sinai's Cal MediConnect Network.

"We are excited to serve our Cal MediConnect members in partnership with Cedars-Sinai, one of the leading hospitals in the country," said L.A. Care Chief Executive Office Howard A. Kahn. "This collaboration further highlights our shared commitment to the community's well-being and improving access to high quality health care for all of Los Angeles County."

The Cal MediConnect program is designed to integrate medical care, long-term care, mental health, substance abuse programs, and social services under a coordinated care plan. The agreement took effect on August 18, 2014 and more than 300 Cedars-Sinai doctors from its network of primary care physicians and specialists will serve L.A. Care dual eligible members through this partnership.

"This new partnership is part of Cedars-Sinai's longstanding tradition of providing access to high quality, compassionate care for people throughout Los Angeles," said Thomas M. Priselac, Cedars-Sinai's president and CEO. "We are pleased to work with L.A. Care to meet the increasing demand for Cedars-Sinai quality from residents throughout Los Angeles County."
