L.A. Care is celebrating an impressive performance in our fourth open enrollment period as a participant in the Covered California exchange. L.A. Care CEO John Baackes called it a “banner year.”  Here are the numbers:

55,679 new enrollees
80,371 total enrollees — more than triple the number of last year’s enrollees
66,722, or 83 percent, of the enrollees have paid their first month’s premium
77 percent of new and renewing members selected a Silver plan

Despite the many roadblocks put up in the past year to sabotage the Affordable Care Act, consumers still recognized that they needed insurance and signed up. The continuation of the Advanced Payment Tax Credit for consumers helped keep premiums low, with L.A. Care providing quality options for Angelenos by offering the most affordable rates in the Silver, Gold and Platinum plans.
