Step 2. Bring your prescription to the pharmacy.
Step 3. Show the pharmacy your L.A. Care ID card.
You should not be asked to pay for covered prescription drugs. Call L.A. Care’s Member Services at 1-888-839-9909 if a pharmacy asks you to pay.
Drugs That Aren’t Covered
Sometimes, your doctor may prescribe a drug that is not on the list of approved drugs for Medi-Cal. Your doctor must call to get an okay from L.A. Care.
To decide if this drug will be covered, L.A. Care may ask your doctor to find out more. Within 24 hours after getting this information, L.A. Care will tell your doctor or the pharmacist if the drug will be covered. Your doctor or pharmacist will then tell you.
