What is a Family Resource Center?

L.A. Care Family Resource Centers offer you health education classes and help applying for free and low-cost health coverage.

What Do We Offer?

Chronic Diseases and Physical Activity

This class covers topics related to asthma such as environmental triggers, pollutants, medicines to control asthma, and development of treatment plans.

Pilates in the Hood/Physical Perfection

This class is offered to children between the ages of 7 to 17 and focuses on developing core strength, breathing, flowing movement and the benefits of physical fitness.

Diabetes

This six-week program covers Healthy Eating and goal-setting to manage your diabetes.

Spanish and English Weight Watchers meetings will be held at the Family Resource Center. Participants are required to pay for all fees related to this program.

New Member Orientation

L.A. Care members new to our health plan are welcome to attend one of our orientations. Learn how your health plan works.

Nutrition and Exercise

This class covers how to identify important nutrients, eating a balanced diet, reading food labels and discussion of health risks associated with poor nutrition. 

L.A. Care Members

• Find doctors and clinics in your area
• Sign up for free health education classes
• Talk with an on-site Member Services Representative

Health Care Providers

• Free to you and your patients, the Family Resource Centers offer tools and resources including: classes, workshops, lectures, self-management health programs, and health screenings to complement your patients’ care.

Local Community

• Find out if you qualify for free or low-cost health coverage
• Sign up for free classes on losing weight, controlling asthma or diabetes, and more
• Get information from local organizations and others to help you live a healthy life
