Features
Graphical and Text-Only Formats
All lacare.org content is available in two formats, a graphical version and text-only version, giving visitors the option to choose which works best for them. Each page in the graphical version has a link to equivalent content on the text-only version. The link is located at the top left of each page.
Text Magnification
Each page of the graphical version of lacare.org has a text magnification control built into it that enables visitors to easily increase or decrease typeface size. It is positioned at the top of each page right next to the link to the text-only version of the site.
Guidelines
Standards
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Priority 1 checkpoints are the basis for a standard of accessibility on the text-only version of lacare.org. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are part of a series of Web accessibility guidelines published by the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative. They consist of a set of guidelines on making content accessible, primarily for disabled users, but also for all user agents, including highly limited devices, such as mobile phones.
Each page of lacare.org also conforms to the Technical Standards for Web-based intranet and internet information and applications defined in section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. 794d).
Testing
Each page of the text-only version of lacare.org has been tested with HiSoftware Cynthia Says - Web Content Accessibility Validator to ensure a good experience for visitors who may be using assistive technology.
